Does anyone know of any houseboating lakes, preferably in the western US, where the winter weather is mild enough to make the houseboat usable most of the year?It would be in a glorified-camping style of houseboat, not a fancy floating home.Thanks!

lake havasu it is part of the grand canon so the views are awesome!!!!!! or lake mead!!!!

Lake Shasta near Redding, Ca is an awesome lake for houseboating in the off season! The weather can get kinda cold sometimes with snow fluries but you can still rent a boat and have a blast! Fishingon the lake is year round too thats a big bonus. In December the community puts together a houseboat lighted Christmas parade thats a blast to participate in and even better to watch while sitting on your houseboat.

Sea of Cortez. Not in the US, but not far away. Plenty of places to buy whatever you need, cheaply. It is also not a lake, but it is more sheltered than the ocean. l think you would have fewer hassles there than the US, if you plan to live aboard on a low budget.

l have heard great things about lake Powell. 2,000 miles of shore line, close to the Grand Canyon with similar views. Nice weather..

Lake Havasu or Lake Powell. l am not sure that Lake Mead has a big house boating culture like these other two.
