HOT DOGS

Make some pasta and then put peanut butter on it, over the fire, to make a peanut-butter sauce for it. Its realllly good!

Hot dogs, as someone else said, r the classic campfire food.

Something that l have taken to, & that my family enjoys, is to cook a roast before leaving. l then cut it into large bite size squares & vacuum seal it using a Seal-a-meal. At the campsite, people heat the individual pieces of meet over the fire on their hot dog sticks. No cooking or clean up for me at the camp, & people have fun eating.

Another classic of open fire cooking is hobo stew. l use ground beef, & again, l pre-cook it. At the campsite each person can take slices of potato, carrot, onion, hamburger, & seasonings & wrap them in aluminum foil. The foil packets r then placed among the coals of the fire to cook. The result is a meal fit for a king.

Oh, & do not forget the marshmallows!

Let is see, grill recipes for a one year old..you do not ask for much, do you?

Kids love carrots & carrots r easy to cook. Wrap some baby carrots(small ones) & a few pats of butter in foil. Put it on the grill over a medium set of coals. Let it cook for about an hour.
Also, my kids love asparagus wrapped in prescutta(sp?) or bacon & cooked on the grill. l can not really give u a recipe for it. Just wrap 3 fresh asparagus spears with a slice of prescutta/bacon & cook on a grill until asparagus gets tender.
Beans r always a hit. Baked beans can be bought by the can & put in an inexpensive aluminum pan, seasoned to ur taste, maybe with a little bbq sauce mixed in with them & topped with bacon. Cover with foil & cook on the grill with a low fire. After they simmer a while, remove the foil & let it cook down until the bacon begins to crisp.
Kabobs; These can be done with chunked ham or maybe shrimp, if u can get decent shrimp where u live. Alternate the meat or shrimp with pinapple chunks or cherry tomatoes or even cherries. l do not know about ur kid, but mine love shrimp. Shrimp r easily over cooked, so when u think they need just a little longer, go ahead & pull them off.
Fish r easy for a kid to eat, as long as they have no bones. Break out the foil again, add some butter & seasonings, lay fish fillets over it all & fold the foil up & seal it. Let it cook over a low/medium fire. Once done, open & let cook until you're happy with moisture content.
By fire, l mean coals. 15 coals ashed over will give u a low fire. 30 will give u a pretty darned hot fire. You might have to add a few unlit coals to the fire as it burns down. Jut put them on top of burning coals & they will catch up.
Any fresh veggie can be done on a grill. Zuccini, squash, eggplant, whatever is in season. Just give it a little olive oil & a touch of salt, or an Italian dressing bath to keep it from burning up & put directly on the grill.
l hope this helps at least a little bit. l have 2 kids myself & l would fix any of this for them.
Like mentioned above, there is always the honorable hot dog. Smoked sausage r great on the grill too.
Whatever u cook at home, u can come up with some variation for the grill. You just have to be a little creative sometimes. Have fun with it.
