We are wanting to go camping soon...Ive checked online at private and state park campgrounds. How will ''year round'' campers treat us? It seems the private campgrounds have more socialable things to do, for the kids. But they also seem to have more RV campers, How will everyong be with us tent campers?

Well, they will probably be sorry for you if you end up in a downpour. Put your tent up in higher ground and not near trees. Do not touch anything metallic during thunderstorms and take off all metal jewelry, or even better, hop into a neighbor is RV which will be alot safer. Campgrounds are usually little communities with very friendly people, so be friendly yourself and you will get along just fine.

''Year round'' campers will treat u just fine as long as u r friendly & courteous to them. Campers, as a whole, r a friendly & helpful group. l can not begin to count the times l have seen complete strangers offer to help put up a tent or dining canopy, give helpful tips on starting a campfire, local sites to visit, etc.

RV campers do not look down on tent campers. Personally, l know tent campers who look down on RVer's!! LOL

You r correct in saying that private campgrounds usually have more socialable things to do: pot luck dinners, game nights, hay rides, & the list goes on & on.

For the most part you will be OK. There is always an exception. Most year rounders just enjoy camping like the rest of us and are lucky enough to afford it all the time. Go and enjoy yourself and do not worry about the opinions of others. That is what makes it great for me l can do it my way and not worry about others. Enjoy!

We camp at St. Andrews down in Panama city,Fl. and are next to RV campers and have never had problems! l love tent camping more than my RV any day!
It really depends on what you want to do as fun on your camping trip! The camp grounds around Pnama cty are fun and near the beachs and amusments for the kids plus the grounds have things also!
Good luck and have fun this summer!

My wife & l use to tent camp all the time. Never had a problem with the RV campers. Now that we have gotten older, we cannot do the tent thing anymore, so we bought a travel trailer.
We camp at Ky Lake all the time (Piney campground in Paris Landing Tn)
Everybody waves hello to everybody, no matter their choice of camping style.

In all my years of tent camping in larger parks, l have YET to meet anyone who was not outright nice to us. Most of the RV campers or year round campers are the older, retired folk and they are some of the friendliest people l have yet to meet .
l wish you good weather and a great time while camping!

Any place u go tent camping, u will be accepted by the others just as any another camper out to enjoy the outdoors. The only way problems arise is when people upset the community balance in the campground. This can & does happen in several easily avoidable ways:

Noisy campers
Too many vehicles parked
Lots of vehicle traffic to/from ur site
Free roaming dogs
Garbage problems
Late-night noise/lights
Kids running around disregarding campsite boundaries
