Is there a store or something? Or do you have to go to somewhere to get it?
I am not talking about twigs and little branches. I am talking about the huge ones.

If you're camping at a campground the campground will probably carry it. Also watch for signs along the most traveled route to the campground -- many individuals will sell firewood from their home. Check the paper for firewood ads. In areas where camping is popular you can pick up wood at nearly every gas station, grocery store, and Wal-Mart.

From past experience I've found the individual sellers often give you more wood for less . . . but of course this can vary.

Well most gas stations will sell bundles of wood. Most place that you camp at will have fire wood for sale at their check in office. But if you are backpacking or going someplace remote you will have to gather your wood. You can only take fallen wood, you cannot cut down trees. One last really good tip is; birch bark is an awesome firestarted. good luck

Most state & national parks have a store or woodlot where u can purchase ur firewood. Give them a call or check to see if they have an on-line site with their firewood regulations. Remember: gathering items to burn while camping can be against the park rules & also be a health hazard. Be sure u r not picking up poison ivy or poison oak branches & leaves as the oils do not burn but rather they become airborne as soot & can be inhaled! This can cause severe or fatal reactions in those who r allergic to these plants.

Many states have programs that advise campers to get firewood from sources near where you're camping, to avoid the spread of diseases and parasites from the firewood to live trees in the area where you camp.

A lot of times, if you're camping in a state, regional, or county park, you can call the park service and they will give you local resources for 'safe' firewood.
