board games?

l think you guys should play hide and seek in the dark. it was really fun when l did it with my cousins.

When my kid was young and we used to camp we would read ghost stories by flashligh just before bed to scare the heck out of everyone. Hide and seek is a goon one also.

Snipe hunting? We used to play this when we were in the scouts. You go off hunting for snipes in the woods (which you will not find) with a flashlight,and make games out of playing with the flashlight to distract them. Then, split off for a bit, double back, then hide and jump out and scare the daylights out of 'em. ;-)

In the early evening, l agree with playing hide & go seek, but then when everyone is naturally gathering around the fire, roast some marshmallows. Bring plenty of marshmallows!!

Take some binoculars or a telescope & check out the millions of stars, planets & the Moon that u will get to see.

Later, when everyone is ready to hit the tent & their sleeping bags, u will want to take a deck of cards & some chips & teach everyone how to play Poker. It was on camping trips where l learned with a whole group of other kids. It was a blast.

Just for fun u could finish up with scary stories but with a twist. The first person tells just a portion of a scary story & then the second person tries to add to it & make it even scarier for a minute, then the next person, & the next person. Doing it this way will make it not as scary for the 8 year old in ur group. You do not want them so scared that they can not go to sleep & keep YOU up all night!

l know, l know, l know.. My boys love flashlight tag.. who ever is it gets the flashlight & if they shine on u then u r it! Or we have played singing games.. u have to pick a song & ur whole group has to sing the same song but it cannot be a song that another team has sung. when the director shines the flashlight on ur group u sing, when they move it to another group u stop.. u cannot pause more than 3 seconds or ur group is out.. & u all have to sing the same song!

Kick the can! A can makes noise and whoever kicks the can stands close to the can until the other person sneaks up and kicks the can. If the first person catches you before you can sneak to kick the can, they are then the first person to kick the can next.
