Looking for pointers on what areas l can explore for a wild camping trip for a week over this thanksgiving.

What l have in mind is offroading with my jeep into the wilderness, parking somewhere, backpacking for a few miles and then pitching tent. Would especially like pristine water bodies, lakes, rivers etc. Might take my dog along with me.

Any suggestions on where l could go? Thanks

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore offers some of the best backpacking in Michigan. Check the included link for more information.

Check out the AuSable river system. Many locations anywhere between Grayling and Oscoda.

Sounds like the Manistee National Forest would meet all your needs.

Go to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Lots of 2 tracks and un-maintained county roads all over to explore.

When Hiking this weekend, be safe and wear orange, yellow or pink in the woods. Put something on your dog too.

If camping is still allowed during winter try Nordhouse Dunes near Manistee or Porkupine Mountains in western UP
