What I am looking for is an apparatus that does not leave you standing there dabbing sphagnum moss on yourself in the dead of winter.
Any ideas?
Well, fr my next little outing, it will be four lovely adies who are not ready to give up ALL the comforts of home just yet.
I've done the hotspring method before, but where l am jumping ina river will get you killed!
Well, after careful scouting of our site, we located a clay deposit.
We're now making clay jars to heat water for baths.
We're using our retired canoe (It did not float very well. Poor craftsmanship on our part) and filling it with hot water.
:)
Bath time!

Well, l jump in the river, but u can take one of those canvas water bags that u can get at an army surplus store & punch little holes in it . l guess, & hang that from a tree & get under it.Probably have to hurry, they fold flat,Or .. theres getting under the waterfall that is always refreshing! It will make u scream though! Those bags r actually canvas buckets with a strap.just an idea, never seen it done we mountaineers r abit skeeerd of water. Once a month wether l need it or not!..LOL!!!

l think u will have to forego actual showers, & make do with sponge baths. Winter is not the best time for full immersion type bathing.

However, if the other ladies insist, bathing then becomes a two-person job. Heat water over ur fire Using just a small amount, one lady soaps up. Then a second lady rinses her off by pouring the water over her.

All this is easier if both ladies bath at the same time, helping each other with the pouring.

I'd also suggest that if they're that effete, u will need to build an enclosure for their showers. Four poles wrapped in canvas will do: anything to give them the feeling of privacy.

One cautionary note: This sort of bathing uses up far more water than people imagine. So keep that in mind. And, set up ur ''shower stall'' a bit away from camp, or u will be living in a swamp.

Moss? Do not forget that wool & cotton cloths r just as natural as something u find laying around the woods. You do not want to go overboard, particularly with newbies.

I've used a solar shower by filling it with hot water. Winter sun does not get the water hot enough.. With long hair you use about 2 gallons per shower. You could also poke hole in a metal coffee can with a plastic lid to act as on/off switch.. I've also in a long term camp made a sweat lodge. Get very hot roll in the snow or lake and get back into the lodge to warm up. sauna
