l have a 7 year old son and its been rainy and dreary out for the past couple days l promised him we would go camping this weekend but we can not. So we are having a indoor camping. this is the first time so we need some activities and snack ideas thank you

Marshmallows!

Set up tent indoors, if you have a fireplace roast wieners or marshmellows, or cook beans overcoals, tell ghost stories with light off , sing songs, play board games, if you do not have a fireplace, cook over stove

Make smores and cook hotdogs.

Get a few pieces of wood, & place a light under them for the effect of fire.
Find a few lateral thinking riddles for someone of his age for the ''fire''. http://rinkworks.com/brainfood/p/latreal1.shtml .. Find one or two suitable for a young person! Most of them r morbid!!!
Cook a few smores on the stove & eat them around the fire, etc..
Tell stories of camp experiences when u were young.. explain the differences of camp equipments from then & now, for instance the materials tents were mostly made of was canvas & now nylon,.. etcc. Maybe Have him invite a friend to ur indoor campout.

if u have room to set up the tent do it.

if not for sure lay out the sleeping bags.

do u have a fireplace? or indoor space heater?
make a pretend camp fire.

eat hot dogs or whatever u were going to cook sitting on the floor or picnic table.

turn out the lights & use flashlights or camp lights.

avoid turning on the tv or using video games pretend u do not have them. turn off ur cell phone.

do u have any mre is the army food packs, spam?
let the kids make their own sandwiches.

make smores 2 graham crackers with a marshmallow & some chocolate in the middle.

popcorn & chips.

put ur canned drinks in a cooler, drink out of the cans no glasses.

do u have fishing poles? u can put a magnet on the hook end & make some paper fish with magnets. then cast down the hallway.

if u do not have a tent use blankets & card tables or whatever is available.

move as much furniture out of the room as u can or sleep in the garage.

for one meal use shoe strings to tie the kids thumbs to their hands try to eat without using ur thumbs.

have fun !

No lights on in the house, just flashlights or an electric lantern. NO TV!!!! either!

When l was seven years old l camped out in the rain in my backyard.

It rained 5 days straight one year at the Cub Scout camp l used to work at. The kids were all between 6 and 10.they stayed in tents the whole week.

l fail to see why the kids had to camp inside.

You can still make Smors!! Do them in the oven!
