l just bought a self inflating mat, and l love to go camping. l go about once a month, and l though l should upgrade my ground mat.

So l buy on and take it home, and l open up the knobs, wait for 2 hrs, and nothing....

So l unroll it, and it turns out that there is air in there- but just not alot, and l really dont wanna return it unless if l have too.

So will it fill up more as l use it, or do l have to blow it up more everytime? Or is there something wrong with it? Should l buy from a different company?
Somewould be great. thanks.

l had a Thermarest about 10 years ago that did about the same thing, so l just blew it up. l read somewhere recently that you should not blow them up because the water vapor from your breath will get inside. I've been sleeping on a Ridge Rest closed cell foam pad since l went ultralight, though l know of people who swear by the Big Agnes self-inflating pads.

l have a therma rest, and self inflating does not do much. that is pretty standard. l usually let it fill up a little, then blow into it and close it up. It is small so it does not take that much breath.

Blow it up. And after it is been on the ground a while and the air inside has had a chance to cool down and contract, blow it up again!

It is pretty typical for the air mattress to only partially inflate but you just adjust the firmness by blowing a little more into the valve. Make sure it is unrolled and flat while it is self-inflating.

For storage, keep it unrolled and with the valve open because the mattress foam remembers the shape it holds most, your mattress will self-inflate faster if stored this way (a good place to store is under your bed).
