l am planning a camping trip to Yosemite National Park this summer and would like some recomendations on where to stay.There will be about 6 people, no pets and we are planning on spending around 5 days.

tuolumne meadows is a good place to base camp, its about 2/3rds thru the park & provides excellent access to the sierra towns of bridgeport & mammoth as we as the june lake loop. u can go just about anywhere in the park from here. one draw back is that it gets busy during the summer & especially on weekends. then again the whole park is busy on weekends. might l suggest going thru the park & going up to bridgeport. the reservoir is big enough to have a spot to yourself & if it gets windy (and it will) u can go to twin lakes or robinson creek, it has public campgrounds along twin lakes road & mono village is at the end. go to the www is below & see for yourself.

If u want to stay in the valley upper or lower pines camp grounds. They r very close to mirror lake, vernal falls & curry village with a bus stop at the camp grounds. Next for me is Tuolome meadows with lots to do outside of the valley including great fishing. June lake is another great spot. Yosemite Natl. Park is crowded during the summer & many campgrounds have filled for most weekends if not all weekends already. My suggestion is to go just before Memorial Day, during the Spring time, the water falls r huge then & everything is green with few crowds.

l suggest Yosemite Valley because there is so much to do there.

But one thing.if you have not made reservations you are not going to get a spot.
Pretty much everything is sold out in the Valley [campsite wise] during the summer up until August 15 l believe
Reservations for August 15-September 14 open up on April 15.

You might be able to find some campsites in other back country areas or Wawona but good luck with the Valley.
