Take a close look at buying one of those small portable units used to jump start cars with dead batteries.

One that has a cigarette lighter plug in. They come in various sizes. But should be able to adapt for what your seeking. And of course can keep it charged when not in use in case you really do need it to jump start a vehicle.

near ur car?.if u r not carrying it,go with a deep cycle or ''trolling motor'' battery.about 100-120 Amp Hr should last 3-5 days..Wal Mart has them for about 65-70 bucks..will run lights & a dvd player..sigh..in the auto dept they will have a cigarette lighter plug u can wire directly to the battery terminals to plug in ur stuff.in the rv dept they also have a regular light bulb that runs off 12 volt.get a couple of those to light ur site..they will have some pigtails sockets there that will wire to the battery & hold those bulbs

If you're camping somewhere with electric hook-ups, get an extension cord instead. But I've got to agree with answerer number one. l have five kids, & they r very into technology. Camping has always been a time for us to leave all that behind. l know it will mean more work for u & ur spouse, but try to come up with alternative entertainment. For example, making s'mores & singing around the campfire. Board games & cards & reading by lantern (battery) in the tent. Ghost stories. Star gazing. They will get used to the idea if u stick by it. And if not, well, it will give them something to complain about now, & to reminisce about later.
