The biggest thing about lists is that what u will find to be indespensible on YOUR list might be completely unneccesary to someone else. For that reason, l do not think there really is a be-all end-all list. HOWEVER, There r tons of great resource lists on the web; take a look thru them & pull the stuff out that works for you:

Yea here is a good list. Start with ur tent. Get something that will fit all of u & a weeks worth of gear cumfortably. Next up is a sleeping bag & matresses. l dont know exactly where ur camping so l cant tell u exactly what to get. However for a week u might want to get a inflatable matress atleast for u & u wife. Or u could get cots. Take some time & really think about what u want to do.

Next up is ur clothing. For me what works good is pack only what u truly need. For each day l pack a pair of socks, a pair of boxers, & a t-shirt for each day. l put each days clothing in a ziplock bag. It is organized & is guarenteed to keep ur clothes dry if ur tent gets wet. Then l pack 2 pairs of jeans & 3 to 4 pairs of shorts & at least 1 swetshirt in a dry bag. In Minnesota we wear long pans to keep the masquitos from biting our legs at night. l like to also bring a light jacket that is waterproof. Then u have a rain jacket too.

For cooking u will want a camp stove & extra fuel. You also need a camping pot & pan set. They r stackable & usualy have 4 to 5 different sized pans. A cooking utinsil set is also nice to have. Go pick up a set of cheap target dish pans for washing dishes in.

Dont forget a flashligh, bugspray, sunscreen, first aid kit, batteries, a camera, cards, & plates & cups for everyone.

That is the esentials list that u need. Just rember to plan ahead for any problems that might arise & then HAVE FUN.

l do not take that many different things than l would for a 3-day trip. Obviously, l bring more food with me, but everything is much the same.

l do bring an umbrella for those rainy days - they r small, weigh little, & can raise ur morale!

Some of what u bring will depend on WHERE u r camping. Campground or wilderness? Your list will be dependent on that.

You can find lists on the internet for what to bring for the bare-bones approach.
