looking to spend two nights tent camping somewhere that we wo not see other people (i.e. no pull-up camping next to rv's) semi experienced campers (with a dog) who are traveling cross country and wo not have much gear.

l can think of three, first there is Samuel P. Taylor state park in Marin county. Lots of redwoods, but lots of campers near by. Then my second choice is Bothe, napa Valley state park. The camp sites r not real close to each other & the best ones r way in the back, hike in which means u park ur car & walk 100 feet to the campsite. Lastly if u want to be on the river(your dog would love it), try Cassini ranch campground. The RV is r in one area & the tent camping is in another. The camp sights r very private & some r right on the river, but no redwoods. One other place to check out is the avenue of the giants near Humboldt, Myers flat, & Miranda
