To me camping involves a tent, camp fire and kind of roughing it, not satellite TV, a microwave and cell phones.Is it really camping in a motor home?If not, what do you call it?

no, it is not really camping. you do not get a good feeling if you stay in a motor home. it is like staing in a crap shack.

By definition it is any temporary shelter so it is camping. But l agree, by my definition camping is hiking/canoeing as far away from all modern facilities with a tent, and whatever l can carry on my back or in my canoe.

l do also ''car camp'' where l camp at a drive up camp site and have a few more modern amenities like a lantern, cooler, air mattress etc. but never in a camper.

No they have a name for it and it is RVing.

to me it isn't...tents is camping...using a motorhome is called RVing to me but not camping

There are plenty of folks that have sold their homes, bought a huge RV with all the amenities, and travel from park to park.

l do not consider sleeping in anything other than tents as camping, and by the time you spend the money on a RV and feed its horrendous appetite for fuel at today is prices, traveling in a car is more comfortable, and renting a nice cabin is cheaper.

In my opinion, it is a state of mind. We go camping to commune with nature, and enjoy the solitude. Campfires are a must, along with fishing and enjoying nature. We took our first trip in a class b van last weekend, and basically it still felt like tent camping. We did all the same things that we would do while tent camping. No TV, electronics, etc. Although, l do have to admit it was nice to have shelter during the thunderstorms.

It is actually RVing, which is another occupation in and of itself. Technically, it is a form of camping, but not in the traditional sense.
