has there been a bag given an award for smallest stuff size?or is one known to be the smallest?

Both L.L.Bean and RE l make small down bags that can take you to below 40 degrees or even minus degrees. l switched to synthetic because once my down bag got wet and it became useless. Something to consider.

l have a 32F rated down bag from Mountain Hardwear. l think it is called Phantom. Anyway, it is under 2 lbs. and it is stuffs to the size of a small loaf of bread. It has 800 fill down (the good stuff). You will be hard pressed to find a synthetic bag with similar properties. The other poster is right though--gotta keep the bag dry.

the slumberjack tourlite 40 degree bag gets my vote--i swear by it--being 6'2'' & 200lbs l prefer a semi-rectangular shape as opposed to mummy for much more roominess--the bag is rated for 40 degrees but i've had it in 35 degress although i'm a warm sleeper.most bags cost an arm & a leg-i paid $60 for my slumberjack & thought it was the greatest thing, now its on sale for $40--thats a steal.as far as size, this packs to 7.5 X12 in. WITHOUT the compression bag, with the compression it packs even smaller---for the warmth, packability, & price there is no way this bag can be beat
