Sleeping bag would likely be more comfortable than blankets that fall off or get swiped by cold campers. You do not want mosquito bites on ur toes. You can cook practically anything over the campfire, just be sure not to borrow ur mom is best cookware to do it. Cooking shish-kabob style on long metal forks is fairly simple & likely would require less cleanup than pots & pans. Take several changes of clothes in case u fall in the lake or play hide & seek in the rain. Mosquito Repellant, Matches, Drinkable Water, Raingear, Make sure all the parts of the tent r there before u go. Have fun, do not step on any bears & do not get lost.

A whole lot of what u will need depends on where u will be. If you're in a state park or something similar, u will need less ''survival'' type supplies, but I'd still recommend these items at least: Insect repellant, sunblock, flashlight & batteries, matches in waterproof container or cigarette lighter, & a package of the pocket-type Kleenex (easier to pack than a roll of toilet paper). It would also be handy to bring a good knife, one of those multi-purpose tools like a Leatherman, hankerchief, a plastic tarp for ground cover or a quick roof, & a small rope. Since u already know it is going to rain, pack a towel & couple of changes of clothes separately in Ziplock bags. After even a small drizzle, nothing is quite as welcome as a dry pair of underwear.
As far as food goes, the simpler the better. When l was a scoutmaster, one of my boys' favorite meals was called the ''hobo dinner''. Wrap hamburger meat, chopped potatoes, carrots, & onions in aluminum foil & bury it in coals for about 5-10 minutes. Unwrap & enjoy. If u have a grill available, it is hard to beat the standard hot dogs, hamburgers, & grilled chicken. If u have cooking utensils, soup, chili, & stew r easy to make. Do not try to be too adventurous on ur first few outings - it takes a lot of practice to get everything ready at the same time. Bacon & eggs r a great breakfast, & if u wrap them in a tortilla, u do not have to worry about washing many dishes. Our guys also liked to take gallon milk jugs of water for drinking & washing. Rinse the jugs out, fill with water (only about 3/4 full) & put them in ur cooler. You will need less ice, the food stays cooler longer, & as the water melts, u will have fresh, cold water to drink.
Whatever u cook, make sure to keep the food out of reach of the natural inhabitants of the woods - raccoons, coyotes, & possibly bears. They like a free meal as much as us two-legged animals do. If ur car will be nearby, keep the cooler inside. If not, suspend the cooler from a tree limb with the rope to keep it out of reach. DO NOT keep ur food inside ur tent - u will have some visitors u did not invite.
Have a great time camping - remember to take ur camera !
