okay well me and my boyfriend and a few friends are gonig camping tomorrow night, but tomorrow its supposed to be a little bit raining, but not to bad.. l dont think camping will be that bad, and that is what roughing it out is right?. and also.. l need to know what to bring... l mean were only going one night.. and l have the main stuff.. clothes, blankets, tent, and stuff like that.... but l wanna know what type of food l should bring... what can you cook over the fire.. and if you have any types id like to hear them!!. ive never been and l wanna be prepared for the worst!

cup o noodles or ramen noodles. There easy to cook and they will fill you up. Also bring some power bars or trail mix to eat on hikes. Make sure to bring a refilliable water bottle. The thing l can reccomend most, is socks.im not joking. l had to go camping in the rain and eveybody was miserable bc there socks were soaked and dirty. Do NOT bring an umbrella, its a waste of space because you never use it, bring a pancho instead

Bring a camp shovel to dig a shallow trench around the tent to keep water from flowing under and soaking through.take the dirt from the trench and pile it against the sides of the tent as you dig.Do not put the tent too close to any trees in case of lightning.Bring tie string garbage bags to keep your spare clothes dry in case the rain does get throguh and gets everything wet.

food wise
1. for breakfeast go to wal-mart & get some shake & pour pancake mix, it comes in a yellow container

2. lunch get some kind of canned food or tuna, something easy to make & clean up, & not needing a fire

3. dinner- make over fire, make chili or hamburgers

if going in a state park or city park, they should have grill there, & thats easier to cook on than a open camp fire

pack rain gear of some type & bring atleast one tarp
leave anything that can get messed up if gotton wet in the car, & buy a little radio to listen to the weather if needed
dont uppack the sleeping stuff untill u go to bed, so its dry when u go to bed

If you carry everything that you think you will need, you might as well stay home. Carry foods that can be eaten without being cooked (it is hard to cook on a fire in the rain). Food that can be cooked over a fire are: hot dogs, sausage, any cut meat (not ground, unless you wrap it in foil and bury it in coals), and fish. Do not forget a small shovel and some toilet paper.

There are hundreds of sites that have recipes for camping. If you want real easy cooking, cook using only foil. Everything gets wrapped in foil, then is laid directly on the coals. You eat from the foil so there are no extra dishes either.

If it is going to rain, be extra sure the front of the tent is facing downhill, the rain fly is properly attached, etc.
A little shower should not hurt it but you never know if it is going to downpour.

Lay a tarp on the bottom of the tent (on the ground). Also lay a tarp inside the tent. If it is calling for rain during the day and you're not there, you will want to wrap up anything you want to stay dry inside the tarp and try to elevate it if you can.

just make sure you dig a trench and put a tarp underneath the tent.the tent will be a mess to put away if you dont

Do NOT dig a trench as John & Jimmy said (look up Leave No Trace). As long as ur tent has a rainfly (the thing that goes on last when u set up ur tent) u will be fine. Clothes wise: long underwear & nice if it gets chilly, extra socks (a pair of wool socks is always good) & a sythetic or wool sweater of some sort. l am guessing that you're in the Continental US, so it should not be too cold, so a summer sleeping bag or sleeping bag liner should do fine, or just a few blankets. Food wise, for one night pretty much anything (or nothing) will do, just bring a stove, or if u must cook over the fire then bring an old beater pot that can get blackened.

Bring 2 tents, one for under the tent (no bigger than the floor of the tent) & one to put over it if it rains, just in case it is not as water proof as u thought. You may also want to bring a mat for outside the tent door to keep the water & mud out. As for food, it depends on how u plan to cook. If u will only be cooking over a fire, than l would take hot dogs & a pie iron. If u will have a grill & pots & pans than u can make almost anything. Since u r only camping for a night, l would not bother with a grill & pots & pans.

Not to be perverted,or an ***hole. If it is rainy, about the only thing your going to be able to do is, stay in your tent with your bf, and stare out the door. It is no fun sitting in the rain. Any fire wood is going to be wet, and your cooking is going to be limited. Unless you can think of something to do with your bf, in a tent, all alone, all night, in the rain. l would bring some kind of protection (and l do not mean a gun, or knife). lol Have fun!
