ok my family has this camper that is never used, and l really want do get outdoors more. l joined cub scouts but my dad couldnt take it, because the kids got out of controll. are there places where there are like no people? my grandparents own 150 achers of woods, would l be better just spending a night out there?

That would be a good place to start, it is free camping and you would have fun, most camp grounds are really getting expensive . As a scout you should take this time a start learning and honing your new skills. As a former boy Scout ( eagle scout ) Ive learned many things that are still used today in my daily life.

Hello Camper:

If u r an experienced camper, go to ur family property. If u r not familiar with living in the outdoors, go to a public campground first, & learn how to live in the outdoors. You will need to cook, clean, sleep, have fresh water & toilet facilities, know where to set up ur camper or tent, how to PROPERLY build a fire (if u want one), & learn what equipment u NEED, & what equipment u WANT to have. National & State parks fill up quickly on the weekends, but weekdays r usually open. Look up ur county on the internet & explore county parks that offer camping. Most r primitive (no electric/sewer hookups), but some can be full-service. KOA campgrounds r a bit more expensive, but u may meet other campers who can offer good advise.

You can always try some practice trips just in ur yard. Try spending 24 hours in the camper without going into the house to see what u need.

There is nothing wrong with camping on ur property. If this is ur first time camping, practice using it would be a good idea.

There r many Federal & State campgrounds in Michigan. Those further north & away from the Great Lakes get less use.

Most camping sites r less than 30.00 per night. Some r only 16.00.
