One drawback of heating over a campfire is the soot that builds up on the outside and bottom of the pot, cup, or pan you are using. It is fairly easy to get most of it off with soap and water. l have heard it said that if you coat the outside with a layer of soap before you cook over the fire, that will make cleaning much easier.

l would make sure you have a fire/heat proof way of handling this cup. Blue enamel cups are a tin cup coated with enamel, and they get very, very hot. A metal coffee pot would be safer (the kind you would percolate coffee in, on a stove top), then pouring the contents in the cups.but be careful, the cup would be very hot, so use the handle. A coffee pot would also reduce the chance of a boil over, resulting in a lesser chance of getting burned by the boiling water.

It is NOT recommended to soap dishes before cooking with them as the soap burns, or u will end up with a soapy/gooy mess.

Sooty dishes can be washed with a scouring pad & soap/baking soda mixture or using a pumice-based, citrus hand cleaner (exterior only).

It is not recommended to use Teflon coated items on a camp fire (especially the cheap one's)

yes. l do it with the other dishes every time l camp. l have done with the cups also.
